The Zen Nixie Clock is our inaugural creation using R|Z568M nixie tubes that we have designed and produced. This clock boasts a sleek and minimalist design, featuring a simple aluminum stand and glass cover reminiscent of a museum vitrine. Its clean lines make it a suitable addition to any interior space, particularly offices and living rooms.
Zen Nixie Clock features
- Internet connectivity - Equipped with a wifi module, this clock is designed to operate online. It automatically synchronizes the time from the network, eliminating the need for manual adjustments or additional devices such as GPS modules or radio connections. In the event of a power outage, the clock retains all settings and will automatically synchronize itself with the internet.
- Convenient online settings - All settings for the Zen Nixie Clock can be easily controlled through your user account on our website. You won't need to search for the user guide every time you want to make changes to its settings.
- Silent circuitry - This clock operates completely silently, with no audible noise produced by its electronic components.
- Direct driven design - The nixie tubes in this clock are driven directly, which extends their lifespan. While the common practice is to use multiplexed driving circuits (which are easier and cheaper to manufacture), they tend to shorten the lifespan of nixie tubes.
- Cathode poisoning prevention - The clock can run periodic routines that prevent cathode poisoning, ensuring that all digits of all tubes remain in excellent condition.
- Rotary knob - For offline users, there is a rotary knob on the back of the board that allows you to access the settings menu and make adjustments manually. Please note that this feature is currently in development.
- Online firmware update - The clock's integrated wifi module enables remote firmware updates. You can easily update your clock whenever new firmware becomes available, with new features and bug fixes.
- No blue spots - Unlike certain other clocks (especially those built with IN-18 nixie tubes), the Zen Nixie Clock doesn't exhibit any blue spots in the tubes.
- Colon tubes - This clock supports our colon tubes, which are currently under development. These tubes will perfectly complement the design of the nixie tubes in terms of their base and internal structure.
- RGB underlight - At the bottom of the board, there are 8 RGB LEDs (WS2812B - also known as "neopixels") that open up exciting possibilities for creating cool lighting effects. For purists who prefer only the warm glow of the nixie tubes, it is possible to turn off the underlight. Please note that this feature is currently in development!

FAQ
What is a Nixie clock?
A Nixie clock is a type of clock that displays the time using neon gas-filled tubes called Nixie tubes. Each tube contains a set of cathodes shaped like numerals which are lit up to display the current time in a retro and visually appealing manner.
How do Nixie clocks work?
Nixie clocks work by passing an electrical current through the cathodes inside the Nixie tubes. When a cathode is activated, it lights up with a glowing orange color to display the corresponding numeral. By cycling through the cathodes rapidly, the clock can display the current time.
Do Nixie clocks make any sound?
No, Nixie clocks do not make any sound while displaying the time. They operate silently and are perfect for those who prefer quiet timepieces.
Can you customize the appearance of a Nixie clock?
Yes, many Nixie clocks offer customization options such as different tube designs, color options, and wood finishes for the overall clock body. This allows customers to personalize their Nixie clock to match their style and preferences.
Are Nixie clocks energy-efficient?
Nixie clocks are generally not considered energy-efficient compared to modern digital clocks. The neon gas-filled tubes require a higher voltage to operate, which may result in higher energy consumption.
Are Nixie clocks easy to read?
Some users may find reading the time on a Nixie clock slightly more challenging than on digital displays due to the vintage-style numerals and glowing effect. However, with regular use, most users adapt quickly to reading time on a Nixie clock.
Do Nixie clocks come with alarms?
While some Nixie clocks may include alarm features, not all models have this functionality. It is essential to check the product specifications or description to confirm if a particular Nixie clock comes with alarm capabilities.
Are Nixie clocks durable?
Nixie clocks are generally considered durable if handled and maintained properly. The Nixie tubes themselves are delicate and must be protected from physical impact, but with proper care, a Nixie clock can last for many years.
Do Nixie clocks require any special maintenance?
Nixie clocks typically do not require extensive maintenance beyond occasional dusting and ensuring that the tubes are not damaged. It is essential to handle the clock gently and avoid exposure to extreme temperatures or humidity to maintain its longevity.
